The Promoter is London Camera Exchange, 15 The Square, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 9ES, United Kingdom.
1.1. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that they have read and agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions.
1.2. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to these Terms & Conditions and confirms that their entry complies with them.
1.3. Entrants may be liable to the Promoter and its licensees for any damages or losses incurred as a result of a breach of these Terms & Conditions.
2.1. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify an entrant or remove any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions or the spirit of the competition, at any stage of the competition.
3.1. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
3.2. All entries must be submitted via London Camera Exchange’s online competition platform. Entries may also be uploaded with assistance at a London Camera Exchange branch. Entrants may visit their local branch with their digital images if assistance is required.
3.3. LCE Photographer of the Year 2027 is free to enter and is open to photographers of any skill level who are aged 18 or over.
3.4. Entry to LCE Photographer of the Year is global and open to people regardless of nationality, however prizes are limited to photographers based in the UK.
3.5. To receive prizes, entrants must be resident in the United Kingdom at the time of entry and must remain eligible once the prizes are granted.
3.6. Employees or agents of London Camera Exchange, their immediate families, or any other persons directly connected with the competition are not eligible to enter.
3.7. Proof of eligibility may be required. The use of false information may result in disqualification.
3.8. Entrants may submit a maximum of one entry per category.
3.9. Where entrants are invited to sign up to receive competition updates, news or marketing communications from London Camera Exchange or the competition’s sponsors, the relevant communication and consent options will be displayed at the point of entry. Entrants may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
4.1. Images submitted to the LCE Photographer of the Year competition must be supplied in JPEG or PNG format and have a maximum size of 2,500 pixels on the longest edge. If shortlisted, entrants must be able to supply the original image as a high-resolution JPEG or RAW file.
4.2. Images may be submitted at any time during the active competition entry period, up to 11:59pm on the final day for entries.
4.3. Images may be captured using any device capable of producing a digital image of sufficient quality and resolution for entry. This includes cameras, smartphones, tablets and other digital imaging devices.
4.4. AI-generated imagery is not permitted and will be disqualified. Images must originate from photographs captured by the entrant. The Promoter may publish additional guidance concerning the permitted use of AI-assisted editing tools, and entrants must comply with any such guidance in force at the time of entry.
4.5. Images containing unlawful, harmful, vulgar, obscene, racist, discriminatory or otherwise objectionable material, or material that unlawfully infringes another person’s privacy or other rights, are not permitted and may be disqualified at the Promoter’s sole discretion.
5.1. Entries will be judged by a panel of experts. Please refer to the competition’s judges page for further information about the judging panel.
5.2. The judges’ decisions are final in all matters relating to the judging of entries, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding those decisions.
5.3. The winner of each of the 14 categories will be awarded £500 worth of LCE vouchers. An additional £500 will be awarded to the photography department, university or other eligible place of study attended by the winner of the Emerging Talent category. The overall winner will receive an additional £2,500 worth of LCE vouchers. Winners of each category and the overall prize will also receive a trophy. Shortlisted entries will be included in an awards book, a copy of which will be provided to each shortlisted entrant free of charge.
5.4. During any public vote, entries displaying unusual or suspicious voting patterns, or where there is evidence of automated software, bots, vote manipulation or other artificial methods being used to inflate votes, may be disqualified.
5.5. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted by email and invited to the awards ceremony. The Photography & Video Show 2027 is scheduled to take place at ExCeL London from 13 to 16 March 2027. Details of the LCE Photographer of the Year awards ceremony, including its specific date and time, will be communicated to shortlisted entrants. The venue, date and arrangements are subject to change, and shortlisted entrants will be notified of any material changes before the awards presentation.
5.6. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact each winner. If a winner cannot be contacted within 28 days of the announcement of the competition results, or fails to provide any information reasonably required to verify their eligibility or deliver their prize, London Camera Exchange reserves the right to offer the prize to a runner-up or other eligible entrant selected in accordance with the judging process.
5.7. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or injury arising from a winner’s acceptance or use of a prize, except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded. Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their entries do not infringe the rights of any third party.
6.1. All images entered must be the entrant’s own work. An entry must not incorporate material that infringes the copyright or other intellectual property rights of another person. Copyright in each image entered remains with the photographer.
6.2. London Camera Exchange reserves the right to require an entrant to supply a high-resolution JPEG or RAW version of an image, including available metadata, where reasonably necessary to verify the authenticity or authorship of an entry. Any entrant found to have submitted an image belonging to another person will be disqualified.
6.3. By entering the competition and submitting a photograph, the entrant grants the Promoter, its competition partners and sponsors a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce, publish, display and communicate the photograph for purposes connected with the competition. This includes promoting the competition in print and online; inclusion in printed or digital competition books, calendars or other competition-related materials; display at exhibitions; use in press, promotional and marketing materials and on social media; and promotion of future editions of the competition.
6.4. Copyright remains with the photographer. Where reasonably practicable, images used by the Promoter, its competition partners or sponsors will be credited to the photographer.
7.1. Entrants may be asked to participate in reasonable publicity relating to the competition. Where an entrant agrees to participate, their name, image and likeness may be used for competition-related publicity and promotion without additional payment.
7.2. Personal data collected in connection with the competition will be processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Personal data may be processed where necessary to administer the competition, verify entries and eligibility, contact entrants, arrange publicity, fulfil prizes and meet the Promoter’s legal obligations.
Personal data will not be disclosed to third parties except where this is necessary for the administration or fulfilment of the competition or a prize, where the entrant has given appropriate consent, where the Promoter has another lawful basis for doing so, or where disclosure is required by law.

7.3. Entrants are responsible for ensuring that photographs they submit have been taken and submitted lawfully and that their entry does not unlawfully infringe the privacy, data protection or other rights of any identifiable person depicted in the image.
8.1. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, suspend or amend the competition where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary.
8.2. Where reasonably practicable, entrants will be notified of any material cancellation, suspension or amendment through the competition website or by other appropriate means.
9.1. The competition is subject to London Camera Exchange’s Privacy Policy.
10.1. London Camera Exchange reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary, including to reflect changes to the competition, applicable law or circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
10.2. Any material changes will be published on the competition website. Changes will not unfairly disadvantage entrants who have already submitted a valid entry, except where a change is required by law or is otherwise reasonably necessary to protect the integrity or proper administration of the competition.
